The Old Priory is a Class B listed building which was built in 1796 as an office although the reason for the office has been lost in the mist of time. We are in the process of researching the origins of the house and the details will be posted on this site in due course. The Old Priory is a Georgian Town house on Woodmarket but backing onto Abbey Row with the Old Parish Church, the Abbey and Abbey grounds as neighbours. Sir Walter Scott's father was born in the building next door. Our walled Garden provides off road parking and a haven in the town for our guests. Kelso is a vibrant town with events such as the Jim Clark Rally, Border Union Show, Civic Week, Regular Horse Race Meetings, British Motorcycle Federation Show and many more events throughout the year. Kelso is situated just over 20 miles from the coast, making it easy to get to wonderful sandy beaches in Northumberland. Kelso is also a good base for exploring the Borders, Northumberland, Edinburgh and the North East of England.Within easy reach of Kelso is also some outstanding historical sites such as Floors Castle, Smailholm Tower, The 4 Border Abbeys, Lindisfarne, Norham Castle, Merlerstain House and numerous other visitor attractions.
